Sleddin' in Idaho
Dave and I spent the w'end in Idaho sleddin' with old and new friends. This was a third or fourth time for the organizers - Ivan and Monette. And the first time for us, but hopefully not the last. We stayed at Trail Creek Lodge near Soda Springs. Sid Davis and his wife, Sherrie, run the Lodge. They are super nice. The accomodations included home cooked meals by Sherrie.
We drove up Friday evening. On the way, we stopped in Malad for dinner at Me and Lou's, where I had my first "utah" scone (fried flat bread). After we settled in at the Trail Creek Lodge, we met the rest of our crew (see first picture below). Soon after that it was time to rest for the night. Next morning we woke up to fresh brewed coffee and biscuits and gravy (dave's favorite). Then it was time to get dressed and hit the trails. The weather was perfect ... sunny, low 30's. We did some trail riding and found some open areas to play in. Then it was time for lunch.
After coming back for lunch - which was ready for us when we got back - some people went out again while a coupe of us stayed in and relaxed. Afterwards, we soaked in the hot tub, relived the events of the day, had homemade Navaho Tacos for dinner, played games, and watched the Hurt Locker.
The next morning we did it all over again ... starting with fresh brewed coffee and french toast ... then a few hours of riding ... USA v. Canada hockey game ... packing up and coming home.
It was a fun fun w'end and hopefully we will be back next year.
