Last week of 2007
Today is the last day of 2007. Tomorrow, Gabe will be one month old.
We spent the Holidays in Salt Lake with family. On Christmas Eve, we had dinner with Dave's family. Every year, Judy (Dave's mom) picks a "theme" for Christmas Eve dinner. This year, the "theme" was Victorian Christmas. Judy did all of the research and set everything up. We started the evening by making Victorian ornaments. We put tinsel and other things inside round glass ornaments and used them to decorate the dinner table. Then we had dinner. In the Victorian tradition, we ate our meal in courses. We had a meat course (turkey and ham), potato course (with three types of potatoes), vegetable course, fruit and nut course, and dessert course(plumb pudding). While we enjoyed the experience, we all agreed that eating meat and potatoes and vegetables all together is preferable.
After dinner, we opened our presents. First the kids opened theirs, and things got a little out of control. We had Gabe with us and I was worried that all the commotion and noise would upset him but he took it quite well. After we opened our presents, my Dad and Rhonda joined us for dessert. They flew in from Virginia and took a cab directly from the airport to Dave's parents home. I was quite impressed that they wanted to join us for the festivities after a long day of travel.
On Christmas day, Dave's parents joined us at our house for dinner. We had polish food that Dave ordered from Polana. It wasn't a "home cooked" meal, but it was good :)

The rest of the week we spend mostly at home - taking care of and enjoying Gabe. Each day he is more and more alert. He can stay awake for over two hours at a time, usually just studying things around him. Nana Rhonda and Grandpa Mark enjoyed spending time with Gabe. We took him to Park City on Saturday and yesterday, we went downtown to see the Christmas light at Temple Square.
Grandpa Mark and Nana Rhonda left this morning. We will miss them and I'm sure they will miss Gabe.
