Cabin Retreat W'end

We spend the last w'end in June at the cabins in Millcreek with Dave's family. It was a busy week-end for everyone but we made the best of it. Everyone (except for Mike, Susan, and Eris who are living in Seattle) made it up on Friday to celebrate Allan's birthday and father's day. We had pizza for dinner and key lime cheesecake and warm apple pie for dessert.

Saturday was a beautiful day. Beth & Ben had to leave early to take Emma to a state track meet. Allan also had to leave to attend to a church function. The rest of the crew enjoyed the cabin and the woods in the morning and then we came back down to our house to enjoy the pool for a couple of hours.

After returning to the cabin, we had a delicious dinner (complements of Judy) and then had a fire and made s'mores.

On Sunday after breakfast, we took another quick "hike" before packing things up and returning home. All and all, Gabe went on 3-4 hikes. They were not very long but involved climbing a few hills and he insisted on doing it all by himself. He absolutely loves being outdoors and walking and running. He has a little plastic wagon that he likes to take with him. When he finds a "treasure" I tell him to put in in his wagon. He didn't find any "treasures" at the cabin, but he enjoyed throwing rocks in the river.

After we got home on Sunday, unpacked, and took a nice long nap, Dave and I took Gabe to the Utah Arts Festival. It was the last day of the festival and it was very busy. Gabe was content to sit in his stroller at first but once he got out - when we took a break to eat - it was all over. All he wanted was to walk/run all by himself and it just wasn't safe. So, we left and came home in time to watch the sun set over the Great Salt Lake.
