Visit to Atlanta
We just returned from a trip to Atlanta. I had a work CLE there and flew out on Monday, Aug. 11. Aside from attending 3 days of classes, presentations, and the like, I got to hang out with some ole' friends from work, make a few new ones, sample Atlanta fare, and go to a Braves-Cubs baseball game (the Braves got spanked). Dave took care of Gabe and the two sillies (Jojo & Gypsy) while I was gone. He and Gabe flew to Atlanta on Thursday and we stayed for the w'end.
On Thursday eve we had dinner at the hotel restaurant and hang out at the hotel bar - yes, they let us in with Gabe. All of my friends wanted to meet Gabe and those that were out and about that evening got to meet him. Gabe, of course, was up to the challenge and he smiled and cooed and made everyone fall in love with him.
On Friday, we met up with our friends Amina and Colin and their two girls and went to the Atlanta Aquarium. I think the Atlanta Aquarium is the biggest in the world. They have one huge exhibit with all kinds of fish and four whale sharks - two males and two females. The tank is big enough to hold 6 adult whale sharks. The Aquarium also has 3 beluga whales. They were by far my favorite - very graceful and beautiful. There is also a tropical exhibit, with all kinds of beautiful tropical fish, sea horses, and even sea dragons (these are amazing).

After our visit to the Aquarium, we had lunch and then took a "break" so the kiddies could take their afternoon naps. Gabe was out (and so was I) for about 2 1/2 hours. Then, after everyone has rested, we got together again for dinner and drinks at Amina and Colin's house.
We repeated the pattern on Saturday -except that instead of going to the Aquarium, we hang out at the hotel pool and in the afternoon, we went to a neighborhood BBQ & Bluegrass Festival.
It was great to reconnect with and introduce Gabe to our friends ... but in all honesty ... i was ready to come home.
